I've just got back from my trip from Tenerife! Myself and best mate Patrick Langdon-Dark headed out to Playa Des Las Americas for the World Qualifying Series event held at Spanish Left.
We were lucky to enjoy super fun waves our whole trip along with great weather. Despite neither of us coming away with the result we wanted, we sure learnt a lot and are looking forward to improving and gearing up for the contests coming up!
I was stoked to take out my first heat and the waves were pumping! I didn't go as good in my RD3 heat, the waves were slow and I made a few mistakes on my wave selection. However, I will learn from this and make sure I take it into the next comps!
I was lucky to have some great equipment with me - I took out 2 Animal wetsuits and to be fair, these were definitely needed as the mornings were COLD! I was not expecting to be shivering in the, Canaries. I also had with me 4 amazing boards from Puravida Surfboards, these all went really well especially in the variety of conditions we had out there. Don't tell Jim, but the new pin-tail he made me for the trip I seem to be wanting to use more than anything - the thing flies!
So even though I wasn't able to get the result I wanted, I had a blast out in Tenerife and am looking forward to returning in the future. I've been back in sunny wales for nearly two weeks now and already there has been 3 storms pass through our coast! I'm currently writing this in the warmth of my car waiting for the tide to get low enough for me to pull all 5mm of rubber on and get in the water to train ready for some contests I've got coming up in the next couple of months!
I've put together a little video of our time out in Tenerife and you can check that out HERE we dive into what boards we brought with us as well as a BTS look at what we get up to at contests!
I hope you have enjoyed this little insight into my trip to Tenerife! Keep an eye out for updates on future contests and events coming up!
